A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Roeland Baan
President & CEO, Topsoe
Roeland Baan joined Topsoe in June 2020. He brings with him over 40 years of experience from the private sector, working in global industry companies spanning from energy and fuel to steel. Here he has successfully developed businesses, driven growth, and built cohesive organizations. Mr. Baan joined Topsoe from a position as President and CEO of the global stainless-steel company Outokumpu, listed on the Finnish stock exchange. Throughout his career, Mr. Baan has held a wide range of global CEO and Executive Vice President (EVP) positions at Aleris International, Arcelor Mittal, SHV NV, and Shell. Furthermore, he has held positions such as Chairman of AEGPL, Chairman of European Aluminum, Member of the Board of Eurofer, and Chairman of International Stainless Steel Association. Mr. Baan serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SBM Offshore NV. He holds an MSc in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
